One highly admired Youtube channel I subscribe to is Finalcutking. Zach King just recently hosted a 48 hour film challenge to all of his followers on Youtube. I thought this would be pretty exciting to do since I like this kind of stuff! I got in contact with my buddy Chris to try and come up with some ideas for our video. How the contest worked was at a certain time an e-mail would be sent out to all people registered for the 48 hour film challenge that included 3 items in 3 different categories. As filmmakers we were to choose 1 item from each category and include that in our film so they would know that we didn't start our filming before or just upload an old video. Well the moment we got the e-mail we started trying to come up with ideas for our film. Truth be told, we were chalk out of good ideas. We knew we were running out of time so we decided to make a video of us trying to come up with something to film for the 48 hour film festival. The more we started talking the more crazy ideas that came to our heads. As you will see in our film there is a kind of twisted humor to it but that was all we were coming up with that night. Our first initial idea was much worse and we had to tone it down. Well, without further ado, here is the film.
After we posted this to Youtube we got some questions raised. How did you make the little girl cry? Why was she crying? This wasn't real was it? And other such funny questions. First off, this is a film and pretty much nothing in films really ever happen the way they are portrayed. I guess for those that don't know the film-making process they might think that all that crying was happening. Truth be told, we had to search for some good audio sounds that we could copy and arrange so it sounded like she was continually crying. The funny thing is Peyton (the little girl crying) was only used for the shots where you actually see her. Everything else you hear from her, she was not even in the room and no where near where Chris was when he raised his hand and said "Shut up!" Secondly, Peyton was sleeping prior to us filming her. When we woke her up and had her put on her pink jacket she started crying because she was tired and it was so late. The bean-bag she landed on is the softest thing I have ever felt, so when she landed it was very soft for her. Finally, I wished we had spent more time coming up with ideas but according to the resources we had we didn't have much to work with. It was just a short little movie to shock people. I find humor in shocking/unexpected things. Well, I hope you liked it and this explanation of how this movie was shot. Let me know what you think in the comments section below!
